Vivat Trust Historical Buildings for Holiday Rental

The Vivat Trust, a registered charity and a national building preservation trust, is opening its doors for Heritage Open Days, established in 1981 to rescue small to medium-sized historic buildings the trust sympathetically converts them for short holiday stays. There are twenty-three historic properties available at the moment.

Vivat Trust is opening several of their properties for the Heritage Open Days on 10th and 11th September 2011.

Vivat director, Laura Norris says “The Heritage Open Days provide an ideal opportunity for the public to access our historic buildings and see the sympathetic restoration works the trust carries out.”

Harrods has opened a boutique at the luxurious Corinthia Hotel in London, its first outlet in a hotel. This five-star palace on Whitehall Place opened in May 2011 with opulent suites and an ESPA spa.

Dinner, Heston Blumenthal´s restaurant at the five-star Mandarin Orintal Hotel in Knightsbridge won one of London´s top restaurant awards just just four months after opening.

At a ceremony in Regent’s Street Langham Hotel Dinner was named the Tatler Restaurant of the Year, the prize was collected by his business partner and executive chef Ashley Palmer-Watts.

Palmer-Watts said that Dinner produced about 800 meat fruit – a chicken liver parfait made to look like a mandarin and inspired by a medieval recipe – orders a week.

Some of the UKs loveliest castles and stately homes are up for auction after the von Essen Hotels group collapsed into administration on Wednesday.

Ernst & Young, the administrators, are trying to find buyers for the 28 luxury country house hotels in the UK and France, including Cliveden House in Berkshire, Ston Easton Park in Somerset, the Royal Crescent in Bath, Thornbury Castle near Bristol and the 12th century Amberley Castle in west Sussex.

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is now open at the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park, London. Dinner, the restaurant seats 140 people with a private dining room for twelve and a chef´s table in the kitchen for six serving lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Dinner serves simple modern dishes inspired by historically traditional fare such as Scallops with Cucumber Ketchup and Peas headed by Ashley Palmer-Watts, Chief Executive Chef to Blumenthal for the last nine years.
